Just like ordinary secondary student, i faced a hard time deliberating over my future, which fields should i go to, which courses looks bright ahead for the future jobs and university studies and so on. Besides this, i had to question my own ambition, aspiration, aptitude and preference. Due to the fact that i flourished well in chemistry during my secondary school years and have passion for chemistry, i thought i would choose chemistry engineering. Having said that, i started to look for polys which have chemical engineering course to put it as my first choice. As nyp does not have chemical engineering, i did not even bother looking at the courses offered by nyp. Then something intrigued me. The name nanotechnology is something strange to me which i have never heard of it before. I was quite puzzled by the potential and nature of this technology brought to our daily life. This curiosity led me into finding out more and immediately went to check the school website and started reading about it by googling.
As i read through i realized that nanotechnology is one of the most exciting technologies in this new era and becoming one already. It is about the study of matter on atomic and molecular scale so it is so small that you can not even see it with microscope.
Material science is the study of the metals, polymers, composites and ceramics. This combination of science and engineering, approaching matter at atomic scale has a big impact on our dailylife in which everything we do is always connected to materials. The applications are found in almost fields, such as consumer products and lifestyle, medical, electronics and as well as renewable clean energies. Through this technology, we can achieve products which are much more cheaper yet more convenient for the customers. The students learning this course has an opportunity to be in forefront of research and development of these advanced technologies.
By the time i read through, the thoughts of studying on small thing excited me and i was overwhelmed by the potential of this technology in the future era. Regardless of my passion for chemistry, i really wanted to take on this course and see how my future can go further with it. I believe nyp is the only school offering this type of diploma programme. Hence here is my shout out the prospective students who want to explore new things and to be part of this new exciting technologies which has the ability to change the world, nyp is second to none.

Diploma courses
In this section, i will introduce various diploma programmes provided by NYP. The school has seven academic schools, offering a variety of courses which are school of business management, school of chemical and life sciences, school of design, school of engineering, school of health sciences, school of information technology and lastly school of interactive and digital media. I have heard several times that when it comes to nursing, there is nothing better than nyp which is not true obviously because all of our schools are equally famous and excels in each perspective fields. The school of engineering which i come from offers largest numbers of diploma courses among other schools. Under the school of engineering, there are :
Aeronautical and Aerospace Technology, Aerospace Systems and Management, Biomedical engineering, Digital and Precision engineering, Electronics Computer and Communications engineering, Electrical Engineering with Eco deign, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering,Multimedia and Infocomm Technology, Nanotechnology and Material science, Telematics and Media Technology.
The school recently introduced common engieering programme in which it runs for one semester and the students will be exposed to various engineering disciplines and at the end of it, the students make a decision on which paths they are preferred to go. This programme will be helpful for those with uncertainties about engineering field.

About NYP part 3
School canteen is perhaps the busiest place in the school. It is the place where almost all students is expected to visit at least one or two times a day.Hence we can not leave out when talking about the school. NYP has 4 canteens all over the campus along with other fast food outlets like mac donald, subway which is recently opened and many other options.
Enough with food. Now lets talk about campus again. Last year the school has announced the plans of campus expansion as to bring new and more exciting facilities to our students and staffs. It is believed to be complete by 2014. As i am already graduating student, it is such a pity that i will not be able to study and use these new facilities. Without a doubt, these new facilities and buildings will be critical in maintaining quality industry-relevant polytechnic education and helping the school to establish as one of the best educational institutions. Here is the few looks at the artist impressions of the new campus.

Introduction to my background
I am graduating poly students in nyp, majoring in nanotechnology and material science, the school of engineering. After having my O level back in 2009, i faced a difficult choice in choosing diploma courses and which poly should i go to. Here in this blog i will talk about my school ( NYP), its diploma programmes and what it is like to be studying in nyp. Through this blog, i hope you have a great time reading my posts and reach out to the parents and students why you should study in nyp.
